Transformers DVD Review

The Transformers DVD far exceeds expectations. Everything about the movie is stunning. The effects, the sound, the story, and the acting are better than average. I am not going to go into the technical aspects of the presentation (you can read the back of the box) but I will say the transfer looks great on my HD TV. It would probably look even better if I had an HD player and the HD DVD version of the movie.

The only problem I have is with the marketing. If you buy the movie from Best Buy you get one of two collectible figures:

If you buy it from Circuit City, they gave you a gift card with access to exclusive online content:

And if you get if from Walmart, you get an added extra feature which is a prequel to the movie narrated by Optimus Prime.

And finally from Target, you get a transforming keepcase.

I got the transforming keepcase, mainly because there isn’t anything like it in my DVD collection.

What was your problem with the marketing? i think the give aways are a cool idea

Not everyone can afford to buy four different versions. It's the insensitive side of capitalism (greed). Just because there are people who will do it (buy every version) doesn't make it right. I understand that the give aways are free stuff and I agree that they're cool, but the obvious display of greed irks me.
