Quick Review: I Am Legend

willandsam What can I say?  Will Smith has another likely hit on his hand.  I Am Legend completely entertained me.  The pacing was excellent.  The special effects were very good.  I like how they took great detail in making NYC look completely abandoned and over run by nature.  The CGI was flawless and seamless in every scene.  The movie had enough suspense and thrills to keep me entertained throughout.  Dr. Neville’s dog, Sam, was clearly the scene stealer.  As far as people taking issue with Will’s race, hopefully they see that he has clearly transcending all boundaries as an actor and as a superstar. Will Smith is clearly this generations "Charlton Heston" when it comes to genre movies.

The only complaint that I have is that there were times when Will was little more weepy and sentimental than he needed to be.  We knew he was the last man on Earth but he seemed to try and convey that more than was necessary. He also pushed close to the edge of being borderline corny; fortunately, he did not cross that line.  I have not read Richard Matheson’s I Am Legend, but I did see Omega Man several times.

As much as I liked Omega Man, I really liked I Am Legend.
