Book of the Week 1-7-08: Nightwing #140

I know its been a while but the holidays are over so I hope to stay on schedule.

I have a habit of picking up Nightwing reading it for a couple issues and then dropping it .  I love the character but some of the story lines seem to start a little flat  and my interest gradually whiters away.  That being said I picked this issue up expecting more of the same and I was pleasantly surprised.   This is the first issue for the new creative team with Rags Morales and Michael Bair doing the art  (which was outstanding) and Peter Tomsai writing.  This is the first book I have read written by Tomasi and if he keeps this up he will be one of my favorites.    He has really captured who Dick Grayson is as a person in the first couple of pages.  The internal dialogue from Dick while skydiving reminds you that after all these years that he is still the free spirted Robin of his youth.  Tomasi  immediately follows this up with some great  dialogue between Bruce, Dick and Tim which really give you some insight into the familial bonds they share.  The pacing on this book is excellent,  Each and every page of this book was meaningful and moved the story along.  If your not a fan of Nightwing this book may change you mind.
