Paramount’s Cloverfield hit theaters this past weekend, and unfortunately I didn’t get to see it until Sunday. I thought it was okay; I could have done without the shaking camera. I understand that it was supposed to be part of the movie experience, but at some point I think you don’t want to abandon some of your audience who genuinely wanted to watch the movie. The Blair Witch and the Bourne movies gave me headaches, but I could watch them, but they didn’t make me sick like this one. It was just too much. I had my eyes closed for at least 20 total minutes and there were people who were putting their heads down all over the place. The effects were good, the intensity was good, but if you truly honestly have motion sickness problems, wait for the video release so you can stop the movie when you feel sick.
