We haven’t had a book of the week for a few weeks, so I thought I would scour what I have to find something worthy. I was never a fan of Marvel’s cosmic stories, but I did sometimes keep up with Silver Surfer. To be honest, I had all but forgotten about Marvel Cosmic until Annihilation. In my opinion, Annihilation was the best cross-over series in the last several years in the Marvel Universe. I liked even more than Civil War. The story continued with the Annihilation Conquest. If you want to read a really well written tie-in miniseries, read Annihilation Conquest: Wraith. Zak-Del is one of the best new characters in the Marvel Universe. That being said, Annihilation: Conquest is really good. It’s a well written story that doesn’t get mucked down in a bunch of tie-ins. The final chapter is a not only the end to a great miniseries, it’s also a beginning. The fallout from this issue is sure to make Marvel Cosmic more relevant in the coming year. The artwork is really good, and the battle scenes aren’t messy. Pick it up even if you haven’t been following. The writers give you enough to where you can catch up fairly fast.
