BlackGeekdom Science-Fiction from a Different Perspective

I have bitched about and moaned about countdown for a year and finally something interesting happened.   It only took 50 issues!  

A year ago who would have predicted a 300 Ft tall Jimmy Olsen vs a 300 Ft tall Darkseid going at it.   That was great and unexpected event and then you follow that up with  Darkseid vs Orion in a classic father/son conflict.   Its almost too much for one issue.   Which brings me too my biggest pet peeve about Countdown nothing really happened when you look at the entire 52 week run.   Decompressed writing doesn’t really work on a weekly book.  You have an issue like #2 full of action, which was preceded by eight weeks of nothing.   This is why I lost interest in the storyline along time ago.  Over the past year I have felt like a passenger in a car with a driver who is lost and won’t ask for directions.   We keep passing the same spot over and over again.  You want to scream at the driver, “Will you pull over and ask for some @$#@$#@# directions”
