I have been really disappointed by the X-men comics over the past 2 or 3. I enjoyed the recent Messiah complex story line but it seemed like a way to relaunch the new Cable and X-force books than a legitimate story. I was really suspect about the move to San Fransisco and the whole hippie 60′s story line. I was really concerned with the direction of the book. That was my state of mind until I read #500. 500 was what a x-book should be. It reminded me why the X-men are “the X-Men”. The combination of Magneto and Sentinels made me reminisce about all the great moments X-history like Days of Future Past and Dark Phoenix Saga. I have a feeling that Brubaker and Fraction may have some great X-men stories in the pipeline. If you haven’t read this book in a while its a great starting point.
