Warner Bros. executives have moved the movie from Nov. 21 of this year to next summer on July 17. According to reports there are no production delays, but what it seems to be is that after the success of the Dark Knight, WB wants to get lightning to strike twice. Even though the Nov. date was the busiest time of the Fall movie season, the July opening was much more attractive for potential bottom line impact. Not to fear, the movie Twilight was moved up from its December date to fill in the gap left by the Harry Potter change. Personally, I think that this is more than a money grab. I think that the execs were worried that the interest level wasn’t high enough due to the release of J.K. Rowlings’ last novel in the series. So, by moving the movie you generate a news story that gets some attention and you get the anticipation level up by riling up the die hard fans. Smart move by Warner Bros.
