Samue Jackson signs 9 picture deal with Marvel Studios

Source: Hollywood Reporter

Samuel L. Jackson is Marvel’s man.

ultimatefury.jpgThe actor, who just weeks ago was seemingly on the outs with the studio over reprising his role as Nick Fury, agent of spy outfit S.H.I.E.L.D., has signed an unprecedented nine-picture deal to play the character in a series of Marvel movies.

The movies include “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” “Captain America,” “The Avengers” and its sequels.

Also on the table is the possibility of toplining a “S.H.I.E.L.D.” movie, which is in development.

The actor, repped by ICM and Anonymous Content, made a surprise appearance as Fury at the end of the first “Iron Man,” throwing geeks into a tizzy and showing the first glimpse of Marvel’s plan to link all their slate of movies into one filmic universe.

Jackson and Fury were expected to be part of the sequel, but as Marvel negotiated with its cast, deals proved hard to come by. Terrence Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle. Mickey Rourke still doesn’t have a deal for the part of a villain despite almost two months of negotiations.

Spot Light on Kevin Grevioux: Screenwriter, Actor and Marvel Zombie

Kevin Grevioux Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kevin Grevioux was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in various other states including Alaska, Oklahoma, Boston and New Jersey. He graduated from Howard University in Washington, D.C. with a degree in Microbiology, afterwards attending graduate school and this time working towards a Masters in Genetic Engineering. While studying, he congruently took screenwriting and cinematography classes as well, and by the time his first semester of grad school had finished, Kevin had chosen film as his preferred career and moved to Los Angeles, where he began to work as a writer in earnest. To this end he has written several scripts in various genres and has written and directed two short sci-fi films Indigo and Thanatos.

Kevin met ‘Underworld’ director Len Wiseman while working on the sci-fi hit Stargate (1994), when Len was a prop assistant and Kevin an extra. The two formed a friendship and later collaborated on a host of other ideas and concepts leading to the completion of two scripts, one of which was Underworld (2003). The idea for the concept was Kevin’s; in addition, he wrote the original screenplay and treatment for the film in 2000.

In 2006 Grevioux started two comic book imprints, Astounding Studios and DarkStorm Studios.[2][3] Grevioux’s Astounding Studios imprint was to focus on All-Ages titles such as Valkyries,[4] Guardian Heroes and The Hammer Kid. The Darkstorm Studios imprint was a more mature line, including the books Alius Rex,[5] Thanatos and Uzan, The Mighty.

Kevin is currently writing Marvel Comics New Warriors and the mini series Legend of the Blue Marvel.

Kevin has also studied acting and has had several small roles in television, film and commercials. Most recently in Underworld: Rise of th Lycans. He has also appeared Planet of the Apes (2001), Charlie’s Angels (2000), Marvel Comics’ The Hulk and in Underworld (2003), playing the formidable Lycan character Raze. He also serves as an Associate Producer on the film and is currently working on several other screenplays as well as his first novel, a science fiction thriller.

McG wants Will Smith for “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”

Terminator: Salvation director McG on wanting Will Smith for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: “I definitely like the idea of Will Smith. I’ve made that very clear. I like the idea of breaking down any racial barriers and taking the idea of what people perceive to be a period film and turning it on it’s ear. And we have a few interesting way to deal with that as well… Because I think he can handle it. It’s basically a guy at war, with war itself. And I don’t want it to be so dark as to be prophetsorial [sic] and to feel like a history lesson. It has to have a journey component to it so it makes you want to get out of your cubicle and your small life and go live in a world larger than your accustomed to. For that I think you need somebody to take you with them, and like I said that’s a short list.”
