Quick Review: Prince of Persia

It was a fun movie. I enjoyed it a lot. It’s a perfect summer popcorn flick. Prince of Persia doesn’t require any heavy lifting. Its plot is simple and predictable. The action sequences are excellent and switching between the actors and their stunt men is flawless. The special effects are good.The movie is really pretty and as most Jerry Bruckheimer films go there is no shortage of action packed scenes.

Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney brought us Pirates of the Caribbean and National Treasure franchises. Unfortunately, this movie for all its fun and action is not anywhere near the same level as those movies. But if you are looking for a good time and a fun movie, check it out.

I see that you didn't talk about how Hollywood has once again white washed another movie by casting white people in roles of characters that are obviously non-white. Then they give us slightly British accents (when they actually try accents) which in and of itself is an insult. Its as if no one in Hollywood thinks that anyone other than white people can open a big movie. As long as they continue in this way, we will end up with movies like this one and The Last Airbender where white people are again cast in roles that are clearly meant for non-white people.

This isn't simply changing the race of a character, i.e. Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin. This is the casting of white Americans and British nationals in roles that should have been given to people of Middle Eastern nationalities.

I thought about it, but it wasn't relevant to my review. What I did leave out is Prince of Persia's place as a video game movie. I will say that of all the video games turned into movies I've seen, Prince of Persia is likely the best of them all.
