Idris Elba Talks Thor

Source: USA Weekend

Idris Elba who is most known for his role as Stringer Bell in The Wire is currently starring in Takers, a heist film opening this weekend.  He talked about Takers and Thor in USA Weekend.   Here is an excerpt from that interview:

You just finished your stint filming Thor as the Asgardian warrior Heimdall. How was that?
It was dope. It was an interesting genre of film to make. I had never done comic book stuff, so that was really great.

What was the coolest part?
Just the bigness of the show. It’s so epic, these huge sets were just amazing to look at. And they really pat attention to detail. When you read the comics, you see all the drawings, and to actually see them in real life, it’s like, “Whoa!”

Do you see yourself doing another superhero character or are you good with the crime dramas?
I have a deal with the Marvel Studios team, a four-picture commitment. I’m sure I’ll be back in something cool.

Looks like he’s going to be in more Marvel Entertainment films, but he didn’t spill the beans, or he may not know yet, about what role or roles Marvel has in store for him.  I know that many people like the idea of him playing T’Challa, the Black Panther.  He certainly has the gravitas and the acting chops to pull it off.  Read the rest of the interview here.

Blair Underwood Talks “The Event”

“The Event” is a new show coming to NBC this fall.  It’s being touted as a show with a Lost vibe.  It has an ensemble cast with multiple storylines centered around an “Event.”  The main plot appears to follow Sean Walker played by Jason Ritter who, while investigating the mysterious disappearance of his fiancée, ends up unraveling the biggest cover-up in U.S. history.

The show premieres September 20.  Check out the following interview with Blair Underwood who plays President Eli Martinez. (A black man as President brings back memories of President Palmer on 24).  Apparently, the crowd response to “The Event” at the San Diego Comic-Con was rousing.  Check out the entire panel for “The Event” below, courtesy NBC.

Smallville and The Suit

Souce: Blastr (formerly SciFi Wire)

Smallville fans always speculate on whether or not Tom Welling would ever don the most iconic costume in the comic book world.  This article over at Blastr has some interesting quotes from Smallville executive producers Kelly Souders and Brian Wayne Peterson.  I hope it’s true.  The show has teased fans with glimpses of the cape in several episodes over the years, but have never actually shown Welling in the costume.

Lance Reddick (Agent Phillip Broyles) in ‘Fringe’

Hollywood The Write Way recently interviewed Fringe star Lance Reddick, aka Agent Phillip Broyles.

Reddick offers relatively spoiler free comments about his character arc in the upcoming second season, identifies his favorite season 1 episode, and explains with complete honesty that he devotes zero time and effort to Fringe fan sites.

So tell me about where your storyline goes in the new season of Fringe.

You definitely find out more about my personal life and who I was before Fringe.

Is that going to be done through flashbacks?

No, it’s more kind of how I’m referred to and what I do. In my personal life, you will find out why I’m divorced and what my relationship with my ex-wife is like.

What can you tell us about what we will see in the first few episodes of Fringe?

I’m not sure what I can say…hmmm…Olivia’s reemergence back into this universe will be shocking. The developments with Charlie will be mind blowing. You’ll find out just how deep my relationship with Nina goes.
